Forest-based Livelihood
For many communities, the forest is not just a source of resources, but also a central part of their cultural identity and way of life. They face many challenges and limited economic opportunities, resulting in poverty and limited access to basic services such as health care, education and employment opportunities. Harvest Wild aims to create market linkages for minor forest produce, which enables them to be financially independent and deal with the challenges faced due to climate change.
Agro-forestry
Agro-based forestry is a type of land management system that integrates agricultural practices with forestry management to achieve both agricultural and forestry objectives. These communities need to survive with limited financial resources as there is no rainfall during the lean period. Harvest Wild helps these communities establish and adopt agroforestry models that suit their ecological and socio-economic conditions which helps them to generate income.
Gender Equality
Traditionally, in tribal families women are responsible for ensuring food and income, resulting in disproportionately high stress for tribal women. This is especially difficult during lean periods when there is inadequate rain. Harvest Wild helps to address the issue of climate change, which is affecting women and girls and helps alleviate the burden they face during these unfortunate times.
Forest Access Rights
Tribal women must be educated about their legal rights to access forest resources in order to ensure their socio-economic empowerment. We at Harvest Wild provide education and conduct training programs on legal rights and forest management, which enables them to play an active role in protecting and conserving natural resources..
